The Concept Behind My Digital Sculpture - RAVANA: THE TEN FACES WITHIN.
I envisioned Ravana as a traditional, handmade terracotta sculpture, struck by the Arrow of Justice and Truth ,piercing all ten heads, each carrying a profound symbolic meaning.
In Hindu mythology, Ravana was a formidable scholar whose ten heads are traditionally associated with his mastery of the six Shastras and four Vedas. They are also interpreted symbolically as manifestations of human nature:
Kaam - Lust
Krodh - Wrath
Lobh - Greed
Moh - Attachment
Mada - Pride
Maatsarya - Envy
Ahankaara - Ego
Chitta - Consciousness
Manas - Mind
Buddhi - Intellect
Despite his immense knowledge, power, and mastery of numerous disciplines, Ravana's downfall serves as a timeless reminder: knowledge without wisdom, power without restraint, and ambition without humility can ultimately become our own undoing.
He possessed extraordinary intellect and immense wealth, yet his unchecked desires and pride led him towards destruction. Perhaps the greatest lesson lies here ,when we become enslaved by our own emotions, even our greatest strengths can turn against us.
Through this digital sculpture, I wanted to express a simple yet enduring truth: the greatest victory is not over another person, but over the darkness within ourselves.
May this Dussehra inspire us to conquer our inner Ravana, embrace truth over deception, humility over arrogance, and compassion over hatred.
Let us burn our ego, anger, greed, and every trace of negativity along with the effigy of Ravana.
