ANCIENT LADY - Digital Sculpture by Surajit Sen
I have always been deeply inspired by historical and ancient Indian sculpture, and Antient Lady is one of my older works that I felt compelled to revisit, refine and present again with a renewed visual language.
In this revision, I wanted to preserve the soul of the original sculpture whilst pushing the surface, detailing, materiality and cinematic presentation towards a more timeless, almost archaeological realism.
My fascination lies in studying how ancient sculptors translated anatomy, grace, ornamentation and emotion into stone—and I continually seek to reinterpret that visual poetry through my own digital sculpting practice.
For me, revisiting an old sculpture is never merely an exercise in refinement; it is a conversation between my past artistic instincts and the artist I have become today.
