“Ākhu” - a Sanskrit word meaning mouse/rat, and traditionally regarded as Ganesha’s vāhana, allowed me to explore innocence, devotion and character through a deliberately tactile digital sculpt, combining stylised anatomy with the visual language of hand-worked clay. I am drawn to imperfect surfaces, carved marks, restrained exaggeration and expressive forms; for me, sculpting is an introspective process in which observation, imagination and instinct converge to give a character its own psychological presence. With Ākhu, I wanted the digital medium to retain the soul of traditional sculpture, not merely to appear realistic, but to feel physically made, handled and lived-in, reflecting my continuing fascination with texture, emotion and sculptural storytelling.
