Akwas - CG Character by Surajit Sen

Revisiting Akwas after nearly a decade has been both a technical refinement and a personal reflection. Through the interplay of ceremonial markings, intricate adornment, and a composed expression, I sought to celebrate identity not as spectacle, but as a quiet manifestation of heritage, dignity, and belonging.
This character reflects my enduring fascination with humanity itself; beneath the surface detail lies an exploration of cultural memory, individuality, and the subtle narratives carried through tradition, ornamentation, and expression.
Psychologically, the piece reveals a gentler dimension of my artistic practice. While much of my work often inhabits the realms of the grotesque and fantastical, Akwas embodies my appreciation for authenticity, human resilience, and the timeless beauty found within cultural symbolism and lived experience.
Revisiting one of my sculptures from nine years ago, I have refined Akwas with enhanced detailing, materials, and realism while preserving the spirit of the original concept. For me, this character stands as a tribute to identity, heritage, and the enduring stories carried through culture, expression, and tradition.
