In revisiting Grolg Mugarz, I sought not merely to depict physical decay, but to explore the unsettling resilience of consciousness beneath a fractured exterior. Through meticulous anatomical distortion, weathered textures, and exposed structural forms, I endeavour to blur the boundary between mortality and persistence, inviting the viewer into a realm where horror emerges from familiarity rather than fantasy.
Psychologically, this sculpture reflects my enduring fascination with the grotesque as a vehicle for introspection; beneath the ruptured flesh and vacant gaze lies a silent meditation on survival, suffering, and the indomitable traces of identity that endure despite ruin.
As with much of my work, I employ hyper-detailed surface treatment and anatomical exaggeration not merely for spectacle, but to transform fear into narrative, allowing the unseen anxieties of the human condition to assume tangible form.
Revisiting an older creation, Grolg Mugarz, with refined detailing, enhanced material treatment, and a stronger visual presence. This piece reflects my fascination with the fragile threshold between decay and endurance, where anatomical distortion becomes a vessel for psychological storytelling.
